Make the most of the Monument Pass to explore Bonifacio

Please note: the Bastion de l’Étendard will exceptionally be closed on 15 August.

You are making the right choice with the Monument Pass! You will save €2 per person while discovering Bonifacio’s two historic monuments.

It is an even better deal because the King of Aragon’s Steps and the Bastion de l’Étendard offer two very different experiences.

King of Aragon’s Steps

During your stay in Bonifacio, a visit to the unmissable King of Aragon’s Steps is a must! The views throughout the descent are breathtaking. At the bottom, you will enjoy an exceptional 180-degree panorama over the cliffs, the turquoise sea and, directly opposite, Sardinia.

After climbing back up the 189 steps, your brave children will receive a certificate signed by the King of Aragon.

A word of advice: leave your flip-flops behind! Closed, flat-soled shoes are compulsory. Our visitor advisers will be happy to provide you with a helmet at the start of your visit.

A good level of physical fitness is recommended, as you will descend to the sea via uneven steps and then have to climb them all again. Children must remain under adult supervision, and a baby carrier must be used for children under the age of 3.

For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted inside the monument.

Bastion de l’Étendard

Would you like to discover Bonifacio from the top of its ramparts? Then the Bastion de l’Étendard is the monument for you!

Outside, the Landscape Garden features 10 different viewpoints, offering sweeping views over the harbour and a spectacular panorama of the cliffs and Sardinia.

Inside the underground rooms, you will discover the exhibition “1,000 Years of Fortifications”. Rich in visual material, including some previously unseen documents, the exhibition features a series of displays tracing the history of the town’s fortifications.

A film about Bonifacio’s Torrione combines present-day views of the town, 3D images of medieval Bonifacio, dynamic maps and historic illustrations, bringing the history of the site to life.

Your ticket is dated on the day of purchase and remains valid until the end of the current year.
