Feel the rhythm of Corsican polyphony with the group Suarina.

Suarina is a musical ensemble born from the friendship of young women united by their passion for music and singing. As committed advocates of Corsican culture, they strive to preserve and promote their language and heritage. Former students of the University of Corsica, they first met during musical gatherings at the University Cultural Centre.

The musical world created through this meeting of female voices invites audiences on both an individual and collective inner journey, guided by one central principle: harmony. It explores the idea of balance—between oneself and others, and therefore within the group as a whole. Just as a structure draws its strength from the balance of each of its elements, Suarina’s music is built upon the complementarity of every voice and instrument.

Harmony lies at the heart of their approach, shaping the balance between space and time, nature and the living world, the individual and the collective, body and mind. Suarina thus embarks on a quest for both personal and collective harmony on every level: musical, human, social and even utopian.

Beginning with an attempt to bring voices and instruments into accord, inspired by the traditional techniques of Corsican polyphonic singing, the journey unfolds through the interweaving of diverse influences and musical horizons. This creative dialogue reflects the group’s strong friendship and sense of sisterhood. From this diversity emerges a complementary sound that is resolutely modern.

After an initial period devoted to performing and adapting traditional songs, Suarina now focuses on creating original music. Renowned writers including Alain Di Meglio, Patrizia Gattaceca, Ceccè Lanfranchi, Ghjuvan Federiccu Terrazzoni and Nicolas Sorba have entrusted several of their texts to the female ensemble.

Suarina also had the pleasure of taking part in the Corsu Mezu Mezu project initiated by Patrick Fiori, performing Corsica Meia as a duet with Nolwenn Leroy for the re-release of the project’s second album.
