Meridianu was born in inland Balagne, among centuries-old olive trees.

Like the deep roots of this symbol of peace, the group draws its inspiration and strength from a land steeped in history, expressing both through its songs.

For Meridianu, cultural heritage is the foundation upon which the present is built and the future is shaped. This is especially true of Corsican singing. The group has chosen to draw on the richness of a musical heritage largely saved from oblivion through the research and recordings carried out by figures such as Félix Quilici and François Flori.

Today, Meridianu strives to continue this mission by visiting villages in search of the last traditional songs that can still be preserved. Yet the group does not seek refuge in nostalgia. While great care is taken to restore the authenticity of Corsica’s traditional songs, these solid foundations also allow Meridianu to sing about contemporary life.

The natural approach of the group lies in the complementarity between tradition and modernity.

Its repertoire, featuring numerous original creations, also stands out for the diversity of its themes and its openness to the world, as suggested by the name Meridianu.
